Hello everyone! KC and I are planning a fall trip to the Pacific Northwest! This trip has been a long time coming, and we are REALLY excited. We are looking to spend time in Seattle, Victoria, and Vancouver.
Have you ever been to any of these places? We would love recommendations on accommodations, restaurants, transportation, shopping, attractions, activities etc. from anyone and everyone!
Our travel style:
-keep it eclectic (variety is the spice of our travel life)
-we are foodies, but budget foodies
-coffee is essential
-thrift & local shopping, bookstores, and art for me
-anything nerdy, impressive desserts, and outdoorsy spots for him
We are planning on spending about a week between these three destinations (it is never long enough, I know!) in the early part of October!

SO many tips! Vancouver is my favourite place in the world and I have spent a about 6 months there in total. I would recommend Commercial Drive, Yaletown, Granville Island, Main Street and Kitsilano for great food (and cheap) and eclectic shopping. Make sure you go to Lucky donuts for my favourite donuts in the whole world and get pie at Aphrodite's in Kitsilano. Sushi and pizza are everywhere in Van and really good quality at super cheap prices. Go to Naam in Kits for great Vegetarian food and True Confections Dessert Restaurant on Denman. Best place for coffee is Commercial Drive or Main Street. For outdoors check out Stanley Park, Lynn Canyon, Deep Cove and Kitsilano beaches.
ReplyDeleteIn Victoria, West Coast Waffles and Pig BBQ Joint for great food. Beacon Hill Park (catch the Goat run if possible), Moss Street Market in Fairfield and houseboats at Fishermen's Wharf.
Seattle's Fremont Sunday Market is amazing for food and great shopping and I had my favourite Seattle coffee at Espresso Vivace in Capitol Hill. GasWorks Park and Olympic Sculpture Park for best of Seattle's outdoors.

Some of your recommendations were right on par with what I've got on my list to research already, and others are things I haven't heard of and am so excited to look into!! I know this trip will be shorter than we'd like and really just an introduction to the area, but I can keep the lists for later trips and we can see a whole new slew of things! I have a few posts on the city: go to the International fountain, the EMP Museum, visit Jimi Hendrix's grave if you are into rock and roll, go on the Duck Tour, eat at the Crab Pot, go up the needle, see the aquarium, go to Fremont and hang with the troll - so much to do! In Vancouver there's Stanley Park (you could spend a whole day there), the Capilano Suspension Bridge, and Granville Island... there are whale watching tours and deep sea fishing excursions if you want to get out on the water. Have fun!

ReplyDeleteI definitely recommend the gardens on Victoria- I think it's called the Buchart Gardens? Or something like that. Both times I've been to Victoria I went and it doesnt disappoint! Have SO much fun! I don't have any other recommendations except for the Gum Wall at the market in Seattle. It's entirely gross but fun to see haha! Have fun! Great blog!
