Let's get back to NOLA.
On the third day of our anniversary trip (Day 1 & Day 2) we grabbed a quick breakfast at Starbucks before riding the street car for the first time. We took it out to the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA), and had a blast looking at a new-to-us art museum. Ok, me a little more than KC.. .but he is a trooper and definitely had a good time as well.
Breakfast: A quick Starbucks run.
Lunch: Spinach Berry Salad and Basil Lemonade for me, BBQ Chicken Slider and Potato Soup for KC - all at Cafe NOMA.
Out and About: Riding the Street Car was really fun, we got to see a whole different part of the city that way! We walked through the entire museum and then some... see part 2 post coming soon!
Weather: warm and sunny
Lots Of: ... art ...
Tried: Basil Lemonade and Riding in a Street Car.
Surprise: How big the museum was! Also, that it had a collection of Japanese Snuff Bottles just like the Seattle Asian Art Museum did!
Love of the Day: The Odalisque portrait. The painting with the girl in the pink dress and purple head scarf. So beautiful. Also, the Oceanic section, I loved seeing art from Oceana, the turquoise walls were a great touch.
Wearing: Skinnies, Burgundy Tee, Thrifted Floral Scarf, Green Jacket, Red Cross Body Bag, and Flats.
Tried Very Hard To: Find souvenirs for our families and friends at the museum. Didn't have the best luck.
I highly recommend visiting this gorgeous museum, and their cafe!

Thanks Gina! You are super sweet. :) XO
ReplyDeleteThis makes me want to go to a museum, I haven't been in so long. The shot of the lobby (I think) from the second floor is my favorite. And oohhh basil lemonade, I'd love to try that.

You definitely should. It's so great too because so many museums are free. This one wasn't, but often you can just spend a day walking or thinking in a place like this for free. :) That is one of my favorite shots too. :) It was super good! XO
ReplyDeleteThanks Melanie! It was a blast. I wanted to recommend it to you, but it takes a while to get through, not the best for your first time in NOLA on a short trip. :) XO
ReplyDeleteLooks totally gorgeous! I visited New Orleans a few years ago but we didn't hit this museum. Jelly!

ReplyDeletehehe yes!! I take most of my photos with my iPhone. I'm still learning DSLR. Not enough hours in the day... am I right.. ? ;)
ReplyDeleteLove NOLA, can't wait to go back! And I can't believe I've never been there, such a neat place with beautiful art :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like fun, and basil lemonade sounds so refreshing and delicious! I think I'd be more excited about visiting this than my husband would, but I'd definitely want to make the stop!
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely my favorite US city so far. :) It is a really lovely museum. Definitely a fun place to visit. It also has a great sculpture garden. Putting that post up today, so check back for photos. :) Thank you for stopping by! XO - Alexandra
ReplyDeleteIt was fun. It's always nice to visit a museum, because it's not something that we do that frequently. :) The basil lemonade was super good! Hhehe yes sometimes that is how it goes. The sculpture garden outside might be more his thing. It is free, and is in the middle of a huge beautiful park. People were paddle boating through a little river in the garden. It looked super fun! XO
ReplyDeleteNOLA is definitely on my trip list! I've never been but it looks so fantastic!
ReplyDeleteIt's so great. SO many people really dislike it, and others love it. I really really love it. It's so alive. My favorite US city to date. If you go let me know, I will send you some recommendations. This was our second time there and I am already starting a list for a potential third trip... :) XO -Alexandra
