Many Days, Many Ways Link Up: Hot Pink Jeans

I never in a million years thought that I would buy hot pink jeans.

I did and I wore them until they were really beat up. I got a new pair over Christmas break (for just $15!) ... and I've been wearing them even more frequently!

So for my very first link up participation I am doing a many days, many ways post for... .you guessed it! My hot pink jeans. :)

I have so many more outfits that I haven't photographed.. ... but you get the idea! Colored denim can become so accessible!

Thanks to Danielle (here) and Nicole (here) for hosting this link up! :)

Until Next Time,

Black, White, & Red All Over // Thrifted Fashion

At Christmastime I got my pink jeans (you know the ones in EVERY fashion post). Well they were such a good deal that I got them in black and red as well. I was soooo excited about the red ones, but a little hesitant because they are very bright for a girl who doesn't wear a ton of red. But I finally started making outfits with them and I decidedly love love love them! :)

Since this jacket is thrifted & a great deal I am linking up with Greater Than Rubies for her On Trend Secondhand Looks Link Up and I love that these tweed and structured lady like jackets are back 'in' for so many seasons. Though this is just one of MANY thrifted looks for me.. but I thought it would be a good one to link up.

I'm also linking up with Danielle & Andi for Blazer week! - aka the best week ever!! You can linkup here! :)

Jacket: Goodwill, $6
T-shirt: Target (sleepwear!), $10
Red Jeans: JCP, $15 - Christmas Money!
Black Studded Flats: Target, $21.

Outfit Total: $52

I'm really into these sort of uptown society lady tweed jackets. You know, like Emily Gilmore would wear, or someone who wears more color perhaps. So I've been collecting a few at Goodwill, and I am finally finding outfits that I like to include them in! You don't want to style them in a way that is fussy... I'm loving this outfit with the bright pants, studded flats and graphic tee to balance out my structured lady like jacket.

Am I the only one who buys cute sleep tees and wears them as regular tees? I dunno if it's kosher but they are soooo much softer and comfy than regular tees!

I also love how the texture of this jacket is such a great contrast from the smoothness of the jeans and the minimalist design of the tee. And I love that the studs on my flats add just a tad of edge. It works for me.

That's all Folks!

Hoping to have more ways to style these jackets in the future! Then maybe I'll get a little how-to style a uptown granny jacket post up for y'all. :)

What is a new thrifted piece you've fallen in love with?

Dress Happy! // Remixing Challenge

First: Have you entered my very first giveaway??! It's up for a few more hours so enter, here. :)

My cardigan splurge is still working out well. I really really don't like spending so much on a single item, but in this case I am still wearing it a lot and feeling like it is continuing to make new outfits. :) And of course it goes with my pink pants...

Embroidered Cardigan: Nick & Mo, Local Boutique $85
Pink Jeans: JCP, $15 Christmas Money + A Sale
Navy Flats: Payless, $15 (with BOGO!) (buy here)
Vintage Cocktail Ring: Salvation Army, $3! - I think this one is my favorite!

Outfit Total: $118

 See the ring?!?!

I was reading an idea that you should 'dress happy' which seems kind of silly, but when you're excited about your sweater the world can seem brighter, so why not?

Check out my previous Remix outfits & non-remix outfits here.

I'm also super pumped about our DIY Gallery Wall behind me... :) Post coming soon!

XOXO,

The Tee That Won't Quit! // Remixing Challenge

This week we had 3 snow days! 3! THREE! Then I had a day off Friday that I was already expecting! I spent a ton of time cleaning, cooking and hand washing lots of fun new Goodwill and Salvation Army finds! Which means I can start styling them and sharing them in posts! Whoop! So here you have it... another outfit from the winter remix!

I have got some crazy crazy wild hair in these pictures... but sometimes you just have to rock it. ;)

Grey Blazer: Thrifted, $20 or less - Old
Ivory Tee: Lucky Brand via TJMaxx, $20 or less -Old
Mint Ombre Necklace: Thrifted, $7 - Old
Vintage Cocktail Ring: Salvation Army, $3
Pink Jeans: JCP, $15 - Christmas Money
Navy Flats: Payless, $15 - BOGO price

I am so in love with this necklace. It's noticeable... but a soft color which I love. Plus it goes with so many things. And I always love to find a vintage piece that is wearable right off the bat! Plus $7?? Steal!

This will also be a nice outfit in spring :)

I cannot get enough of this lacy tee! It is so so so versatile! And comfy. But it looks so much nicer than a lot of my other tees. :)

Like Loungewear But Cuter (I) // Remixing Challenge

I came across this fantastic blog called Greater Than Rubies, where she (Caitlin) challenged herself to quit shopping for a year (!). In the process she learned to be an expert remixer. Now she hosts link ups for remixing wardrobes. She is currently doing a winter 20 X 30 (twenty items (not accessories) to make 30 outfits). I didn't get any posts up in time, to link up from the beginning, but I am trying it out at home all the same, and so far it's going pretty well! I have picked my 30 items, stuck to them and come up with at least 15 outfits, if not more so far! It's kind of a select as you go thing. But for me even 15 outfits is good with so few items! :)

I found this challenge so helpful in revealing the hidden potential in my closet. A lot of times I think I over-wear things, or wear them the same way so many times that I just need a new idea. This challenge forces you to be creative and try combinations  that you wouldn't have before. Not all of them are going to be great... but some might be amazing. :)

So I am going to start sharing some of those outfits on here!

Like Lounge Wear, but Cuter (I)

Necklace: Francesca's, $26
'Dressed up' Sweatshirt: Aerie, $40*
Pink Jeans: JCP, $15(!) - bought with Xmas money!
Navy Flats: Payless, $15 (BOGO Price)
Vintage Cocktail Ring: Salvation Army, $3(!)

Total: $99

This outfit also works well for this idea that The Girls With Glasses posted about on Babble recently (here). They are calling it 'Dress For Happiness' and it's basically just wearing fun things that make your day a little bit better. It might sound kind of silly... but it really can work. When your shoes are sparkly or you have a colorful pattern on, it actually can make you a little more excited to run errands. :)

*This sweatshirt was a bit more pricey than I usually go for.. but I wear it ALL the time! Working in a preschool means I want to be comfy and warm, so I wear it weekly! I even bought it in a cream/tan with a gold fleck too! Great investment! Plus dressy sweatshirts are one of the fall trends I was wanting to try... and I'm in love!

My love for colored denim goes on and on. This pink is shockingly easy to wear. I love love love love bright pink with navy! My first pair of $10 clearance hot pink jeans wore out, and luckily I found this pair at a day-after-Christmas sale at JCP. They were such a good deal I got the same pair in black and red! (so excited to try the red!)

And the statement necklace lives on! I can't tell you how many times I've worn them! More about my love for these statement necklaces here.

I love how pairing dressed up basics makes for a comfy but polished look!

So easy. So cozy. But cute.

Have you ever done a remixing challenge?

What are your favorite/most versatile pieces?

Do you have any dressed up basics that you swear by?

Leave me comments and I would love to know!

Teal & Navy: 5 Years Later

Years ago in a Redbook magazine, I saw a fashion spread that featured an outfit that was head to toe navy and teal. Apparently, it made quite the impression on me as I came up with this outfit at least five years later!

But, I think they were on to something. I like this color combo a lot, it's almost monochromatic... but not really. It just works.

Cluster Earrings: J Crew Factory Store, ~$16 on sale - Old
Navy Blouse: TJMaxx, $35 - Old
Teal Skinnies: TJMaxx, $15 -Old
Navy Flats: Payless, $15 (with BOGO!) (buy here)

Outfit Total: $81

There is something so nice about a neutral long sleeved blouse. I say go ahead and invest! This was more than I typically spend on tops, but I could tell it was well made, and it goes with so much!

What is your favorite unexpected color combo?

All for now,

Alexandra
