Most Days Lately // Netflix, Budgeting, & Double my Hours

Hi everyone! Spring is in full swing here in Kansas, everything is gorgeous and blooming. April also happens to be the busiest month ever.

Why is that? April and October, every year.

Because I really like my coworkers and we have been absolutely swamped with a new project these days, I've been working 35-40+ hour weeks instead of my usual 20-25. Which I am happy to do, because I want the project to be a success.... but it is definitely an unexpected change. It will be SO good for the paycheck.... but it's got me worn out! April is also the month where I am trying to prep for a Bridal Show, my first one.... and I haven't exactly had time. : /

That's what the next few weeks are for... right? eek.

Most nights I get home, and force myself to do some sort of cooking-like ritual (we're budgeting too), eat with half closed eyes, and then watch #allthetv , #allthenetflix , and all the #youtube until I must sleep. It's both awful and amazing to spend evenings this way.

Here's what I have been watching with (and without) KC:
Have you guys been watching any of these? I have gotten hooked on these Pemberly Digital Youtube series! So fun. And yes... I'm only 3 years behind the LBD boat. I would also like to point out, that I feel like a Gilmore these past few weeks, TV is all they did. ;) Minus the take out. Because, did I mention budgeting?

Real quick, this is amazing:

So far, we're more-or-less on track with our first week of rigid budgeting... not perfect. But pretty darn close. It's nice to have more of a guideline, I think we will be really good at it eventually. And it's nice to know that our 'guesstimation' numbers were pretty spot-on for each area within our budget. If Starbucks didn't exist....

Things are slowing down some at work, so I am able to spend some time in the afternoons to get other things done. Like bits of bridal show work, and Cinderella Free Fall.... whichever seems more doable at the time. It's a work in progress.

I feel like we have a lot of things pending right now. Job opportunities, creative endeavors, and upcoming trip ideas.... it's a lot not to know. I'm trying not to think about it, by you know, watching more Netflix.

So, as usual, we're balancing productivity and uncertainty, youtube and meal plans, improving things little by little, and trying not to push myself too hard.

Just typing this has me feeling more tired than when I started... but I'm glad I finally had a second to type something for this space! I miss it!

What are you all up to?!?!?!?

XOXO,

Alexandra

  1. 40+ hour work weeks? More power to you! When I used to have 30 hour work weeks I would come home and just sleep. (That's after I'd swing by taco bell because it was the only thing open, lol).

I've been watching a lot of Netflix too, it's gotten bad. I've been watching a few documentaries, and a lot of thrillers for some reason. I watched this movie/show, Parallels, that was pretty good. They aren't sure if they are going to make a part II movie or turn it into a tv show, so it ends on a cliffhanger. Gosh I've been watching too much Netflix, lol.

  2. I've watched all the four new Game of Throne episodes that got accidentally released online - so good! Although now I have to wait for the next episode which won't be until another couple of weeks!

  6. Oh man I totally hear you--this has been a crazy month for me for work/life stuff too! Hopefully it will slow down soon. Love the Rory love interest Venn diagram, that's too funny. I'm with you on the budgeting too--sometimes that's so hard when all you want to do is just order out!!

  7. It will be so good for the paycheck for sure. But it's been awful in my bridal show prep. This weekend... eeeek!

I have been picking the most random things. My hubby has guys' night Wednesdays.. so I try to pick random things he may not like when he's not around. haha :)

  8. Haha oh no! I hadn't even heard about that! I try to avoid any social media related to the show for fear of spoilers since I haven't read them. We're keeping up with them weekly. The first two have been good so far. :) Thanks for stopping by! XO -Alexandra

  9. It's definitely so much better for us and our budget. Though we try not to eat awful food out too... though of course we aren't perfect! :) I love keeping up with that goal. This week may not go as well since its all bridal show prep! May is a new month though. :) XO

  10. So far I love it. Emma has never been my favorite Austen character... maybe because she's super forthcoming... and I'm not? I don't know. But I love this more than I though I would so far. It actually has given me some confidence about my upcoming bridal fair and business! A push I needed in a swamped month where i had no time to prep. Let me know if you like it! XO -Alexandra

  11. I thought LBD was cute. :) I think that there are not as many Emma's as Lizzie's... so it might go more quickly. You know I don't like Emma's character as much as other Austen ones... but I kind of love these... entrepreneurial stuff is right up my alley... so maybe that's why. Good to queue up when I want to watch something but don't have much time. Let me know what you think of them if you watch! XO

  17. hehe I know, it can be awful! But also great. Sometimes it's so difficult to find what I am looking for when I go to rent a DVD or get one from the library.. .so it is a good solution to that problem. That and really really rough months like this one! Glad it's almost over! XO -Alexandra
