Have You Heard? // The Dixie Chicks - "Cowboy Take Me Away" // Throwback

Happy Friday Friends! I'm coming at you late today because I have been thinking about 90s country lately. Is that strange?

We grew up listening to country, after all, I live in Kansas... and grew up in the country. I wouldn't call it a "farm" but we did have a barn and livestock (sometimes), and two pastures. So there you go. ANYHOW, sometimes I just itch to listen to 90s country. KC looks at me like I'm bonkers because I am NOT and was definitely not in the past (AT ALL) a country girl. It makes me giggle and I turn on old Shania, Tracy Lawrence, or Brooks & Dunn. KC laughs and laughs while I try to sing along to things like Texas Tornado and My Maria. My mom was a big Garth Brooks fan, so I can sing along to at least one of those Christmas albums like nobody's business. In the late 90s we had a lot of (IMHO) fabulous pop country that I could not get enough of. I was on my way to loving exclusively pop music... but I really did like Shania Twain's That Don't Impress Me Much album, along with The Dixie Chicks. I may or may not have dressed up as "Earl" one Halloween. There is a very bad picture, I'll try to find it sometime.

This video is so 90s 00s that I cannot even.

ANYHOW, Audrey has been listening to 90s country, and I have been turning it on off and on... and Cowboy Take Me Away came on yesterday and I was just like, "YAS". I hadn't heard it probably in 15 years. What a jam. I was imagining this as the soundtrack for Arrogant Devil and I just might have to do a re-read. Le swoon what a romantic song. LOL

Today I read the Vogue interview with Taylor Swift, as one does, and they mentioned something that I briefly forgot... The Dixie Chicks reference in the Me music video. Yes please, I really hope this collab is happening. Also, it makes so much sense when TDC are known for opposing President Bush's decisions, and T-Swift has found her political voice. TDC kind of fell of the radar and have come back... which reminds me a bit of T-Swift's disappearance during Reputation... I'm so excited to see where this goes. These ladies will not be silenced, and I am here for that. (squee if they open for her during her stadium tour I would freak out!)

One thing I love about life, and being a woman is that I don't feel like I need to fit a mold. One day I want nothing to do with country music, all about current alternative tracks. I've pulled out a band tee and distressed jeans. The next day I'm listening to a Latin playlist, or 90s R&B and watching throwback tv shows. Today I just might find my denim dress and listen to The Dixie Chicks.

What about you, does your music taste vary a lot?

Has it changed over time, or does it build on itself?

What are you guys up to this weekend?

We're watching my nephew and hopefully seeing my sisters, but otherwise hanging out around the house. I would like to get a lot of reading in, which should shock no one.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Alexandra

Have You Heard? // Hoku - "Perfect Day" // Throwback

Happy Friday Friends! April and May are some of the busiest months of the year for us, but it has been a good first five days. :) We started watching Friends and are loving it!

Last night my SIL Kels posted a throwback to Hoku and KC and I both went... "oh yeah! Hoku!" hehehe So I thought, why not share one of her songs today?!

If nothing else, you guys should recognize this one from Legally Blonde.

Do you guys remember this song? We still listen to 90s/aughties music all of the time. :)

What are you guys up to this weekend?!

We have a family bday party for Kyle's aunt and her granddaughter and we have tickets to see Captain Marvel. I hope that otherwise I can get some scrapbooking in, it's been too long! We also hope to keep watching Friends and hopefully getting some chores done around the house!

Have You Heard? // Baby Bash - "Suga Suga" // Throwback

Happy Friday Friends! It's been a crazy few weeks with lots of plans, lots of work events, and of course lots of work in our new house. *breathes in and out of paper bag*

BUT GUESS WHAT?! TODAY IS THE DAY THAT TO ALL THE BOYS I'VE LOVED BEFORE IS ON NETFLIX!!! :) :) Also, Guernsey is on Netflix now, and it was AMAZING! Have you watched either?! Do you plan to?!

We are *FINALLY* getting our flooring installed next Thursday and then we can move in! YASS! :) Cross your fingers for us that we don't have any issues this time! It's been a looong three months of trying to get floors put in!

Do you guys remember this song? It was one of my jams in middle school. :)

I just love it as a fun throwback song.

What are you guys up to this weekend?!

We are hopefully going to be finishing up packing, painting, etc. so we can move in late next week/weekend! :) HOORAY! It's been what feels like a long time coming! I also hope to get some reading in, and a few episodes of my newest obsession: HGTV's Home Town!

Have You Heard? // *NSYNC - "It's Gonna Be Me" // Throwback

Happy Friday Friends! Things are in full swing here! We're still working on some big things, and in the meantime doing a lot of reading, spring cleaning, and purging of junk! :) I hope to have more time for blogging soon, but either way next week I've got the next post for the Swinging, Groovy, Fabulous, Groovy Blog Collaboration with Audrey! Woohoo! We're talking about the 1940's and it should be super fun! :)

Today I had to share "It's Gonna Be Me" because... we'll it's almost May. That never gets old. Just like *NSYNC will never get old. :)

What are you all up to this weekend?!

We are headed to see Vance Joy in KC tonight! :) So excited, I'm pretty sure this is our 5th time seeing him...? :) The rest of the weekend I hope is spent doing more spring cleaning, purging junk, and lots and lots of reading! I'm not sure how much time I'll have for documenting lately, but we'll see! :) I'm excited for a quiet and productive weekend.

Have You Heard? // Throwback // J.Lo. - "Waiting for Tonight" & "Play"

When we heard we were going to Vegas we made sure we would get to see someone fun in concert. We had initially thought we would see Britney, but she wasn't doing a show during our date range. J.Lo. was though, well almost, so we stayed one extra night to see her show. I'm so glad that we did!

If you're close to my age I am sure that you grew up listening to J.Lo. on the radio, she had tons of singles over the years and continues to crank out dance hits as well as movies and TV shows. As a result seeing her perform live was super fun!

Throughout the show she did some of her older hits like, "Jenny from the Block" and "I'm Real" complete with an Bronx styled stage set. She also did a "Vegas" type set where she and her dancers were mostly doing a strip tease. Unexpected, but when in Vegas, right? She sang some of her more recent hits, and even a song she did for the movie Home and a cover of "I Hope You Dance" which she dedicated to her children. She also did a segment with some of her more Latin hits. All of the sets were really, really good. I also loved how she talked to the audience as she performed, I've always liked that. She even said to one guy, "Go ahead baby, get your selfie!" - so cute.

Overall, the show was really awesome. For one, the theater is much smaller than I had expected, so we felt pretty close, while not being in the front. Two, damn J.Lo. can dance! She's really a talented performer, and she's incredibly fit as well. It's super inspirational as she just celebrated her 47th birthday. If I could be anywhere close to half that fit before 47 it might be a miracle. :P - all jokes aside, get it J.Lo! The stage, dancers, sets, costumes, etc. etc. were all very impressive and fun. It was definitely a Vegas atmosphere and they went all out. Appropriate as she titled the residency, All I Have.

We had a blast, and should she tour again someday, somewhere near us, I would go. :) If we go back to Vegas sometime soon, we will definitely look into seeing Britney - but I'm certainly not at all disappointed that we made it to J.Lo.'s show instead!

I don't really have a favorite J.Lo. Song, but you really can't go wrong with "Waiting for Tonight" right? It's definitely a classic.

Ok, so I also love this one.... I think I had one of the "NOW" CDs with this song on it, so it's a feel-good favorite. hehe

I hope this gives you a good start to your weekend or week! :)

OK, and because I can't help myself, this is her new single, called "Ain't Your Mama," it's so catchy and fun - and hilarious.

Also, when we got home, Scali was in love with the J.Lo. program. he wouldn't stop laying on it. I don't know if he likes it because it's smooth, or the same color as him or what. What a little stinker.

Are you a J.Lo. fan?

Have you seen a Las Vegas residency show?
