Have You Heard? // Taylor Swift - "Lover"

HAPPY FRIDAY FRIENDS! Today we have a brand new Taylor Swift album! WOOHOO! :)

image via google.
Here's the most recent single and video. The video is stinkin' cute. The end made me tear up.

I think it's sweet. I'm still not over the moon about everything I've heard for this album... but we'll see how it goes today when I download and listen to the whole thing! Things usually grow on me, and KC pointed out that the singles are usually not my favorites anyway. :) EE! :)

I also love that her lover in this video isn't white. I went on a bit of a "listen to old t-swift music via YouTube" binge last week... and they're all white. So this was a nice change. I always like to see more representation and diversity.

What do you guys think of this one? Are you planning to get the album today?!

What are you up to this weekend??

We have a bday part for one of KC's cousin's kiddos on Sunday, but are otherwise free right now. Hoping to do some organizing and decorating and of course reading. I realllllllllllllllly need to sort out some scrapbook stuff so that I can make some progress there. LOL I'm enjoying reading so much right now, which is great, but at some point I really do want to use the supplies that I purchased!

OH YEAH! WHO IS EXCITED FOR THE NEXT SEASON OF GBBO?!?!?! It comes out on the 30th! SQUEE! :)

Have a great weekend!!

Alexandra

Have You Heard? // Ed Sheeran feat. Camila Cabello & Cardi B - "South of the Border"

Happy Friday Friends! I hope that you had an excellent week and gave yourself some grace. I hope that you have the best weekend ahead! :)

Back in the beginning I wasn't a huge Ed Sheeran fan, I don't really know why because I do love his voice, and I've loved pretty much every other album he's had. I looooove the collaboration album that he recently released! Of course it's no surprise that I liked this song with Camila Cabello a lot.

So here's a quite inappropriate ( ;) ) and catchy tune for your Friday friends!

What do you guys think? Are you a fan of Ed Sheeran's music?

What are y'all up to this up this weekend?!

We have D&D with some close friends on Saturday night, but otherwise I hope to get some chores/cleaning and reading/scrapbooking done this weekend because last weekend ended up being BONKERS BUSY with plans.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Alexandra

Have You Heard? // The Dixie Chicks - "Cowboy Take Me Away" // Throwback

Happy Friday Friends! I'm coming at you late today because I have been thinking about 90s country lately. Is that strange?

image via google.

We grew up listening to country, after all, I live in Kansas... and grew up in the country. I wouldn't call it a "farm" but we did have a barn and livestock (sometimes), and two pastures. So there you go. ANYHOW, sometimes I just itch to listen to 90s country. KC looks at me like I'm bonkers because I am NOT and was definitely not in the past (AT ALL) a country girl. It makes me giggle and I turn on old Shania, Tracy Lawrence, or Brooks & Dunn. KC laughs and laughs while I try to sing along to things like Texas Tornado and My Maria. My mom was a big Garth Brooks fan, so I can sing along to at least one of those Christmas albums like nobody's business. In the late 90s we had a lot of (IMHO) fabulous pop country that I could not get enough of. I was on my way to loving exclusively pop music... but I really did like Shania Twain's That Don't Impress Me Much album, along with The Dixie Chicks. I may or may not have dressed up as "Earl" one Halloween. There is a very bad picture, I'll try to find it sometime.

This video is so 90s 00s that I cannot even.

ANYHOW, Audrey has been listening to 90s country, and I have been turning it on off and on... and Cowboy Take Me Away came on yesterday and I was just like, "YAS". I hadn't heard it probably in 15 years. What a jam. I was imagining this as the soundtrack for Arrogant Devil and I just might have to do a re-read. Le swoon what a romantic song. LOL

image via google.

Today I read the Vogue interview with Taylor Swift, as one does, and they mentioned something that I briefly forgot... The Dixie Chicks reference in the Me music video. Yes please, I really hope this collab is happening. Also, it makes so much sense when TDC are known for opposing President Bush's decisions, and T-Swift has found her political voice. TDC kind of fell of the radar and have come back... which reminds me a bit of T-Swift's disappearance during Reputation... I'm so excited to see where this goes. These ladies will not be silenced, and I am here for that. (squee if they open for her during her stadium tour I would freak out!)

One thing I love about life, and being a woman is that I don't feel like I need to fit a mold. One day I want nothing to do with country music, all about current alternative tracks. I've pulled out a band tee and distressed jeans. The next day I'm listening to a Latin playlist, or 90s R&B and watching throwback tv shows. Today I just might find my denim dress and listen to The Dixie Chicks.

What about you, does your music taste vary a lot?

Has it changed over time, or does it build on itself?

What are you guys up to this weekend?

We're watching my nephew and hopefully seeing my sisters, but otherwise hanging out around the house. I would like to get a lot of reading in, which should shock no one.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Alexandra

Have You Heard? // Taylor Swift - "The Archer"

Happy Friday Friends! I hope that you had a great week and are looking forward to this weekend. :)

This week we got another Taylor Swift song! :) It's called The Archer, and I cannot say it's my jam. Music is really going back to an 80's lately with lots of synth, etc. and it is just not my thing. I was hoping to like this anyhow, but I'm not over the moon about it. It's also just pretty darn slow, and doesn't quite pick up as much as I want it to. It reminds me a little bit of Getaway Car from Reputation and that was maybe my least favorite song on the album! Oh well!

STILL EXCITED FOR THE ALBUM THOUGH! :)

What do you think? Has anyone else noticed this trend? Are you here for it or not?

What are you guys up to this weekend?!

Right now, we have very few plans and I'm pretty excited about that! I'm hoping to do a lot of reading and maybe make a hummingbird cake! I haven't made one before, but it is one of my 2019 goals! I've also been wanting to re-start Sabrina the Teenage Witch. We watched one episode last year and then got distracted. I love the original series and think that the spooky twist is super fun!

Have You Heard? // Shawn Mendes feat. Camila Cabello - "SeƱorita"

HAPPY FRIDAY FRIENDS! Do you notice anything different around here?! I'm so happy to have finally settled on a new design for this space. I have been thinking about it for such a long time! I've had 3 previous designs over 9 years, and I love how this space has grown with me! Let me know what you think of the new look!

I'm so glad it is the weekend. I hope that you have a breezy Friday where you catch up on a bunch of things lingering in the week, and take some time for yourself. :)

I can't KC or I are huge fans of Shawn Mendes, but we do really like Camila Cabello. This song is sooo good. So add it to your summer playlist, or listen to it while you knock out your work to-dos. The video is a little bit NSFW, fyi.

What do you think? I think it is catchy! :)

What are you guys up to this weekend??

We aren't up to too much. KC has to work on Saturday so I will probably read/scrapbook/bake/etc. Then we'll hang out in the evening and see some friends on Sunday afternoon for a DISNEY MOVIE NIGHT! I'm sooooo excited! A new batch of besties is getting ready to move to different states again ( :( !!! ) So, we're trying to get time in where we can.

Have You Heard? // Kacey Musgraves - "Love is a Wild Thing"

Happy Friday Friends! I hope that you had a great week, and if you didn't... the weekend is nearly here! :) Do something nice for yourself!

It is no secret that I've been a big Kacey Musgraves fan since I first heard one of her songs last summer. Every time I listen to the album I have a new favorite song. Lately it is this one. It's so dreamy, happy, hopeful.. I can't wait to see her sing it live in September!

What are you guys up to this weekend??

Tonight I am going to the library booksale with my mom, sister, and nephew. Maybe we'll grab dinner with KC afterward. :) Saturday we have D&D with some close friends. We provoked an *actual* dragon... the outlook isn't great. Sunday we have a goodbye party for friends who are getting ready to move up to Iowa for grad school. I will miss her, but seeing as she most recently lived in Taiwan... Iowa is manageable. :) Hoping to read, plant my flowers in the ground, scrapbook, and who knows... maybe make more cookies? If you've been following along on IG, I bought myself a decorating kit and am having fun practicing and experimenting. :)

Have You Heard? // Taylor Swift - "You Need to Calm Down"

Happy Friday Friends! I hope that you had an excellent week, and if you didn't... it's the weekend and a new day today! :)
image via google

We finally have a release date for Taylor Swift's new album! August 23rd!

She dropped another single last night, and along with her Equality Act letter that she sent to Senator Lamar Alexander (TN), this is song sends a major message about hate and LGBTQ+ rights. To which I say, AMEN Taylor Swift!

Not to mention... it's just HELLA CATCHY.

This definitely feels like the 2019 version of Shake it Off. So if you're looking for a catchy "screw you haters" kinda song... here it is.

What do you think?

What are you guys up to this weekend?!

The only thing we have this weekend is my scrapbook booth at my Library's How To Festival tomorrow! I am super excited and hoping to see some familiar faces and chat with some people about preserving memories! Other than that I am hoping to read, and maybe do a bit more decorating... if you caught my IG stories this week we hung up some bird feeders, put up a nice bookcase and filled it, and then made a DIY chalkboard for our kitchen. FINALLY! Also, I've been doing some scrapbook stuff in preparation for the how-to festival tomorrow! Also... part of our fence blew over the night of the tornado... so we need to finally put that back up. :)

I hope that you all have a great weekend!!

Have You Heard? // "A Whole New World" - Aladdin Soundtrack // Throwback

Happy Friday Friends! Sometimes KC and I talk about our favorite Disney movies... I mean *OFTEN*.. and it is so hard to choose!

image via google.

When I was a kid The Little Mermaid was my favorite. As an adult I love SO MANY OF THEM. I think if I had to choose (at least princess-wise) I would pick Sleeping Beauty from the older ones, and Tangled from the newer ones. But I always remember how swoony Aladdin is... and I can't but help love it too. :)

Here's a throwback from the 1992 version...

Le swoon!

Here's the 2019 movie version...

Pretty true to the original!

I am SO EXCITED to see this movie tonight! :) If you haven't seen the trailer, here it is. I just watched it again and got chills, which seems like a good sign.

Are you excited? On my Instagram story I have a poll running and I think about 60% are excited to see it. If it is Disney and not sad, I am here for it!

What are you up to this weekend?!

Aside from Aladdin tonight we are going to see my family tomorrow and then hopefully getting some things done around the house... and having some downtime! Things have been super busy lately!

I hope that you have a great one!

Have You Heard? // A Fine Frenzy - "What I Wouldn't Do"

Happy Friday Friends! I'm so glad that this week is over, and that we have some fun things but also some downtime planned! :)

This song is from yearrrrsss ago but it's still one of my favorites. It's so so so so so sweet. So I thought I'd share it today. After the shitty political week we're having (I can't even go there right now) I just wanted to be happy.

So, I hope that this sends you off into a happy Friday.

What are you up to this weekend?!

We are seeing The Sun Is Also A Star tonight. It was the cutest book ever, and I am not sure I can handle the screen adaptation. Both of the actors are so beautiful and it seems like they are going to have great on-screen chemistry. We'll see, Everything, Everything was not very good... even though I liked seeing it anyway. Then we have a bit of downtime before graduation for my cousins and their parties. My grandma is in town so I am excited to see her. My sister is off on a cruise (WOOHOO!) so we will try to hang out with my family and my nephew here. He's hanging out with my mom for the week. :)

Have You Heard? // Ellie Goulding - "Sixteen"

HAPPY FRIDAY FRIENDS! It has been the longest feeling week after two three day work weeks. I know, it's not a bad problem to have, but it *feels* long!

Ellie Goulding has released another new single, and it is much more catchy and lots of fun. I REALLY HOPE SHE HAS A NEW ALBUM SOON! :) Though I will say, flux has very much grown on me. I really really like it now!

What do you think of this single?! (trying not to think too much about what these supposed 16 year olds are doing in this video! THIS WAS NOT MY EXPERIENCE --- lol!)

What are you guys doing this weekend?!

We have the busiest weekend!! It's my sister's birthdayyyyy!! We are going to the Kansas Food Truck Festival, to another birthday party, and a goodbye party for my friend Rachel. I'm going to try not to be sad that they are leaving us!! Also Game of Thrones. I just don't even know what's going to happen post Battle of Winterfell.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Have You Heard? // Taylor Swift - "Me!"

Alright, Taylor Swift dropped her new single last night. Have you heard it yet? I was up reading, but we honestly probably would have stayed up anyhow. It was only 11 PM here. :)

image via google.

Honestly, I was surprised to see this single being a collab, and with Brendon Urie from Panic! At the Disco. I really like it though. It's so catchy.

I was a little skeptical of the branding, but honestly I really like it now. It's so fun and bright. The music video is bonkers but I really actually like that as well. Cats and Whimsy forever. I thought this was going to be another song where she talks about how great she is, but at least she's acknowledging that there isn't another guy like him too. LOL.

image via google.

I do think this will be on her new album, especially because of the snake at the beginning of the video. She's changing her brand again, and I think commissioning an (AWESOME) mural, all of the thought gone into her social media, and this song... it's got to be the lead-in for an all around (happier) Taylor Swift album. Someone online mentioned that she hasn't really released a "song of the summer" before, and that feels like just what this is going to be... to me. Who knows though, we'll see.

image via google.

I will be honest... if only our vacation had been a wee bit later we could have impulsively driven to Nashville to take a photo by the mural! LOL (Not with the reveal, but just in general). Someday!

What do you think of this single?!

I hope that the album comes soon!

What are you guys up to this weekend?!

We need to run to the burbs to make some returns, have Olivia's last volleyball game (we missed the others. :( ), I have my Alumni Tea at my house I lived in, and then Endgame, and THEN Game of Thrones. Sunday is going to be a sad sad day. LOL

HAPPY WEEKEND! At least you have your catchy tune for the weekend!

Have You Heard? // Marc Cohn - "Walking in Memphis" // Throwback

Hello from the road! We are heading to Memphis for a long weekend today. :) I won't give any details about our plans until we're back, but we're excited for a little bit of a getaway!

Couldn't think of a better song to share, though I suppose Elvis would have worked. Maybe next week! (act surprised)

I think that everyone knows this song, and it is definitely reminiscent of spending time in the South!

Have You Heard? // Hoku - "Perfect Day" // Throwback

Happy Friday Friends! April and May are some of the busiest months of the year for us, but it has been a good first five days. :) We started watching Friends and are loving it!

Last night my SIL Kels posted a throwback to Hoku and KC and I both went... "oh yeah! Hoku!" hehehe So I thought, why not share one of her songs today?!

If nothing else, you guys should recognize this one from Legally Blonde.

Do you guys remember this song? We still listen to 90s/aughties music all of the time. :)

What are you guys up to this weekend?!

We have a family bday party for Kyle's aunt and her granddaughter and we have tickets to see Captain Marvel. I hope that otherwise I can get some scrapbooking in, it's been too long! We also hope to keep watching Friends and hopefully getting some chores done around the house!

Have You Heard? // LSD (Labrinth, Sia, Diplo) - "Thunderclouds"

Happy Friday Friends! It's getting warmer here finally and we are enjoying some breezy, sunny days!

Sia released an album with Labrinth and Diplo as LSD recently(ish) and KC and I have been loving it. This song "Thunderclouds" is super fun.

I love it when artists collaborate to make something new and interesting!

What are you guys up to this weekend?!

KC and I have a "no plans day" on Saturday, where we will mostly do whatever we feel like. We definitely need to get some groceries, and our neighbor is coming over with his chainsaw so we can finally do something with the wood in our yard from the tree that we had to cut down. I am hoping to do something like this with some of it. Other than that I am hoping to read... I have SO many ARCs... and then on Sunday we are going to see Anastasia the musical in Kansas City with my sister and my brother in law. :) I am a little bummed that we can't go to the parade... but we'll just make some Irish food and throw on Celtic Woman and it will be good enough. :)

Have You Heard? // Kacey Musgraves - "Mele Kalikimaka"

Happy Friday Friends! Last night we went to see The Nutcracker at The Kauffman, which was so fun! :) I'm SO GLAD THAT IT IS THE WEEKEND, AND MY HOLIDAY "BREAK".**

I have really loved getting to know Kacey Musgraves's music this year, her Christmas album is super fun. I like that a lot of the songs have a vintage-y feel to them. I think this is one of my favorite tracks though it is hard to choose! :)

I really think that more people should cover this one, it is fun. :)

What are you guys doing this weekend?!

We have our Christmas party/game night with friends tomorrow evening which should be fun. We are doing breakfast food. YUM. Then Sunday we're not sure. Probably finishing up gift wrapping, driving around to see holiday lights, and possibly Jingle All the Way at our local theater. I've never seen it! :) Then it's Christmas Eve spent together, and Christmas spent with family. :)

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays to you all!

And a HAPPY NEW YEAR! :)

Have You Heard? // Pentatonix - "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" (N'sync Cover)

Helllo! It's been a long time since I've done a "Have You Heard". This has not been my blogging year. That's ok, I'll just keep moving forward.

When Pentatonix covers an N'sync Xmas song... you've gotta share it. :)

Anyone else still listen to 90s and aughtie xmas albums?!

What are you guys up to this weekend?!

We are watching DUMPLIN' on Netflix tonight! HOORAY! I am so so so excited! Tomorrow we have a Hanukkah party this afternoon and early evening, and then a Christmas party with some of KC's former coworkers after that. Sunday is a dinner with my girlfriends. We're giving belated gifts to Jessica who's bday was last week!

I hope that you have a great weekend!

Have You Heard? // Flora Cash - "You're Somebody Else"

I am trying to get back into my old swing of things. Posting regularly, reading regularly, etc. So here's a Friday music post!

I really like this song that's been on the radio a lot the past few months.

The video is rather bleak... so you know if that's not your thing don't watch it... lol!

What do you think? The song is moody and I like that. :)

What are you guys up to this weekend?

We're going to a football game on Friday night because OE is singing with her school choir during the national anthem. Then we are packing and getting settled before our trip next week! We are headed to Boston and then up north for a little fall road trip with our friends! Also this weekend is a movie night with my girlfriends. :) AND READING! And scrapbooking...?
