Have You Heard? // Taylor Swift - "Lover"

HAPPY FRIDAY FRIENDS! Today we have a brand new Taylor Swift album! WOOHOO! :)

image via google.
Here's the most recent single and video. The video is stinkin' cute. The end made me tear up.

I think it's sweet. I'm still not over the moon about everything I've heard for this album... but we'll see how it goes today when I download and listen to the whole thing! Things usually grow on me, and KC pointed out that the singles are usually not my favorites anyway. :) EE! :)

I also love that her lover in this video isn't white. I went on a bit of a "listen to old t-swift music via YouTube" binge last week... and they're all white. So this was a nice change. I always like to see more representation and diversity.

What do you guys think of this one? Are you planning to get the album today?!

What are you up to this weekend??

We have a bday part for one of KC's cousin's kiddos on Sunday, but are otherwise free right now. Hoping to do some organizing and decorating and of course reading. I realllllllllllllllly need to sort out some scrapbook stuff so that I can make some progress there. LOL I'm enjoying reading so much right now, which is great, but at some point I really do want to use the supplies that I purchased!

OH YEAH! WHO IS EXCITED FOR THE NEXT SEASON OF GBBO?!?!?! It comes out on the 30th! SQUEE! :)

Have a great weekend!!

Have You Heard? // The Dixie Chicks - "Cowboy Take Me Away" // Throwback

Happy Friday Friends! I'm coming at you late today because I have been thinking about 90s country lately. Is that strange?

image via google.

We grew up listening to country, after all, I live in Kansas... and grew up in the country. I wouldn't call it a "farm" but we did have a barn and livestock (sometimes), and two pastures. So there you go. ANYHOW, sometimes I just itch to listen to 90s country. KC looks at me like I'm bonkers because I am NOT and was definitely not in the past (AT ALL) a country girl. It makes me giggle and I turn on old Shania, Tracy Lawrence, or Brooks & Dunn. KC laughs and laughs while I try to sing along to things like Texas Tornado and My Maria. My mom was a big Garth Brooks fan, so I can sing along to at least one of those Christmas albums like nobody's business. In the late 90s we had a lot of (IMHO) fabulous pop country that I could not get enough of. I was on my way to loving exclusively pop music... but I really did like Shania Twain's That Don't Impress Me Much album, along with The Dixie Chicks. I may or may not have dressed up as "Earl" one Halloween. There is a very bad picture, I'll try to find it sometime.

This video is so 90s 00s that I cannot even.

ANYHOW, Audrey has been listening to 90s country, and I have been turning it on off and on... and Cowboy Take Me Away came on yesterday and I was just like, "YAS". I hadn't heard it probably in 15 years. What a jam. I was imagining this as the soundtrack for Arrogant Devil and I just might have to do a re-read. Le swoon what a romantic song. LOL

image via google.

Today I read the Vogue interview with Taylor Swift, as one does, and they mentioned something that I briefly forgot... The Dixie Chicks reference in the Me music video. Yes please, I really hope this collab is happening. Also, it makes so much sense when TDC are known for opposing President Bush's decisions, and T-Swift has found her political voice. TDC kind of fell of the radar and have come back... which reminds me a bit of T-Swift's disappearance during Reputation... I'm so excited to see where this goes. These ladies will not be silenced, and I am here for that. (squee if they open for her during her stadium tour I would freak out!)

One thing I love about life, and being a woman is that I don't feel like I need to fit a mold. One day I want nothing to do with country music, all about current alternative tracks. I've pulled out a band tee and distressed jeans. The next day I'm listening to a Latin playlist, or 90s R&B and watching throwback tv shows. Today I just might find my denim dress and listen to The Dixie Chicks.

What about you, does your music taste vary a lot?

Has it changed over time, or does it build on itself?

What are you guys up to this weekend?

We're watching my nephew and hopefully seeing my sisters, but otherwise hanging out around the house. I would like to get a lot of reading in, which should shock no one.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Alexandra

Have You Heard? // Taylor Swift - "The Archer"

Happy Friday Friends! I hope that you had a great week and are looking forward to this weekend. :)

This week we got another Taylor Swift song! :) It's called The Archer, and I cannot say it's my jam. Music is really going back to an 80's lately with lots of synth, etc. and it is just not my thing. I was hoping to like this anyhow, but I'm not over the moon about it. It's also just pretty darn slow, and doesn't quite pick up as much as I want it to. It reminds me a little bit of Getaway Car from Reputation and that was maybe my least favorite song on the album! Oh well!

STILL EXCITED FOR THE ALBUM THOUGH! :)

What do you think? Has anyone else noticed this trend? Are you here for it or not?

What are you guys up to this weekend?!

Right now, we have very few plans and I'm pretty excited about that! I'm hoping to do a lot of reading and maybe make a hummingbird cake! I haven't made one before, but it is one of my 2019 goals! I've also been wanting to re-start Sabrina the Teenage Witch. We watched one episode last year and then got distracted. I love the original series and think that the spooky twist is super fun!

Have You Heard? // Taylor Swift - "You Need to Calm Down"

Happy Friday Friends! I hope that you had an excellent week, and if you didn't... it's the weekend and a new day today! :)
image via google

We finally have a release date for Taylor Swift's new album! August 23rd!

She dropped another single last night, and along with her Equality Act letter that she sent to Senator Lamar Alexander (TN), this is song sends a major message about hate and LGBTQ+ rights. To which I say, AMEN Taylor Swift!

Not to mention... it's just HELLA CATCHY.

This definitely feels like the 2019 version of Shake it Off. So if you're looking for a catchy "screw you haters" kinda song... here it is.

What do you think?

What are you guys up to this weekend?!

The only thing we have this weekend is my scrapbook booth at my Library's How To Festival tomorrow! I am super excited and hoping to see some familiar faces and chat with some people about preserving memories! Other than that I am hoping to read, and maybe do a bit more decorating... if you caught my IG stories this week we hung up some bird feeders, put up a nice bookcase and filled it, and then made a DIY chalkboard for our kitchen. FINALLY! Also, I've been doing some scrapbook stuff in preparation for the how-to festival tomorrow! Also... part of our fence blew over the night of the tornado... so we need to finally put that back up. :)

I hope that you all have a great weekend!!

Alexandra

Have You Heard? // Ellie Goulding - "Sixteen"

HAPPY FRIDAY FRIENDS! It has been the longest feeling week after two three day work weeks. I know, it's not a bad problem to have, but it *feels* long!

Ellie Goulding has released another new single, and it is much more catchy and lots of fun. I REALLY HOPE SHE HAS A NEW ALBUM SOON! :) Though I will say, flux has very much grown on me. I really really like it now!

What do you think of this single?! (trying not to think too much about what these supposed 16 year olds are doing in this video! THIS WAS NOT MY EXPERIENCE --- lol!)

What are you guys doing this weekend?!

We have the busiest weekend!! It's my sister's birthdayyyyy!! We are going to the Kansas Food Truck Festival, to another birthday party, and a goodbye party for my friend Rachel. I'm going to try not to be sad that they are leaving us!! Also Game of Thrones. I just don't even know what's going to happen post Battle of Winterfell.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Alexandra

Have You Heard? // Taylor Swift - "Me!"

Alright, Taylor Swift dropped her new single last night. Have you heard it yet? I was up reading, but we honestly probably would have stayed up anyhow. It was only 11 PM here. :)

image via google.

Honestly, I was surprised to see this single being a collab, and with Brendon Urie from Panic! At the Disco. I really like it though. It's so catchy.

I was a little skeptical of the branding, but honestly I really like it now. It's so fun and bright. The music video is bonkers but I really actually like that as well. Cats and Whimsy forever. I thought this was going to be another song where she talks about how great she is, but at least she's acknowledging that there isn't another guy like him too. LOL.

image via google.

I do think this will be on her new album, especially because of the snake at the beginning of the video. She's changing her brand again, and I think commissioning an (AWESOME) mural, all of the thought gone into her social media, and this song... it's got to be the lead-in for an all around (happier) Taylor Swift album. Someone online mentioned that she hasn't really released a "song of the summer" before, and that feels like just what this is going to be... to me. Who knows though, we'll see.

image via google.

I will be honest... if only our vacation had been a wee bit later we could have impulsively driven to Nashville to take a photo by the mural! LOL (Not with the reveal, but just in general). Someday!

What do you think of this single?!

I hope that the album comes soon!

What are you guys up to this weekend?!

We need to run to the burbs to make some returns, have Olivia's last volleyball game (we missed the others. :( ), I have my Alumni Tea at my house I lived in, and then Endgame, and THEN Game of Thrones. Sunday is going to be a sad sad day. LOL

HAPPY WEEKEND! At least you have your catchy tune for the weekend!

Have You Heard? // Taylor Swift - "Call it What You Want"

Happy Friday Friends! This week has been absolutely bonkers. Not in a bad way, but in a my brain is spinning kinda way. The kind of week where you sit down to do something and your mind is racing with lists, and goals, and more thoughts than you can keep track of. You know what I mean? Stay tuned.

image via google

This song is stuck in my head this morning, so we'll go with it... because yeah... not a lot of time for finishing things this week. Or being "on it". LOL.

What are you guys up to this weekend?!

Tonight I have a craft night with some of my girlfriends, tomorrow we are hanging out with a few friends for dinner... and otherwise I think that's it. I hope to do some reading, some cleaning, and get into that organizing/spring cleaning mode. I got moved into my new cabinet... but there is still a lot of work to be done. Not to mention I had the goal last year to get our packed stuff in better shape storage-wise. That's not really happened since right after we moved in with my in-laws. hahah We'll see how it goes!

Have You Heard? - Taylor Swift - "Delicate"

Happy Friday Friends. I hope that you have had a great week. Mine has been pretty good, up until last night when my dad yelled at me on the phone for about an hour and a half... so... just hanging in there as per usual..

image via google

I have been trying to figure out what my favorite tracks from "Reputation" are. It's a tough one. I really really like Delicate, Endgame, So It Goes, I Did Something Bad, Dress and Call it What You Want. I don't know, I really like most of them.

I'm lucky if I get my three posts per week in so far this year ... so here's "Delicate" just because she released a video for it recently. :) It reminds me of LaLaLand and her video for Shake It Off. Not sure I love it, but I do quite like the song.

What have you guys been up to? What are you up to this weekend?

This weekend we have the St. Patrick's Day parade, and I'm not sure what else. Hopefully Leap Year and some delicious Irish-y food. :) As always I hope to read and document!

I'M SUPER SAD THAT MY 1920's POST WITH AUDREY DID NOT POST ON THE RIGHT DAY! OMG. If you're enjoying that linkup, please retroactively check out my post: here.

Have You Heard? // Taylor Swift feat. Ed Sheeran and Future - "Endgame"

I wasn't planning to post today, as I'm still catching up a bit.. but "Endgame" was released, and it's just too much fun not to share. Can I tell you guys how much I love Ed Sheeran? I used to really not like his music, but gosh he's so talented, he definitely grew on me. Half of my love of this song is him. Just being honest. :)

I would also like to say that a while back KC and I were making guesses about T-Swift's next album or style (before anything had been released) and I was like.. "I think she's going to rap.". Here ya have it. :P

Also, thanks for filling us with wanderlust. 2 tickets to Miami, Tokyo, and London please. :)

What are you guys up to this weekend?

We are going to my sister Olivia's basketball game, KC is watching the Vikings in the playoff game, and hopefully otherwise we are doing things like taking down our Christmas tree, laundry, and reading! I'm so excited to finally have some energy again, I feel like I can (and want to!) do all of the things! :) I'm having the itch to do some organizing of my crafty supplies as well!

Have You Heard? // Taylor Swift - "Gorgeous"

Happy Friday Friends! I caught up on so much blog reading and commenting this week, it was great to catch up, and to be reminded so many times why the blogging community is the best! :) :)

Last week Taylor Swift dropped another song, "Gorgeous". Of the three, this is my least favorite, but I'm sure after a few more listens it will grow on me... because that's what T-Swift music does. This one definitely has the Swifty trademark of being completely ridiculous in an overly dramatic sort of way.

I mean: "You've ruined my life by not being mine.", "I think I might sink and drown and die." and "if you've got a girlfriend, I'm jealous of her, but if you're single it's honestly worse. Because you're so gorgeous it actually hurts" - that last one is KC's favorite line. " :P

When she says, "you should take it as a compliment that I'm talking to everyone here but you." That just makes me remember all the "bow down to your queen"s from GOT this season:

To which I just:

What do you think?

I do like the line about, "stumbling on home to my cats. alone." lol. #catladyforlife

But you know... after listening to this twice more to write this post.. .I like it better already.

Last night, she also released the video for "... are you ready for it?" - which is far and away my favorite song of the three. The video is totally nuts, as expected, and must have cost a fortune to make. Just insane.

Anyhow, not long now until the album is out. :)

How are you feeling about Taylor Swift's new music after some time?

What are you guys up to this weekend?

We are having our Halloween Party on Sunday night, so we are going to be busy busy doing cleaning, party prep, and costume things! Also, we still need to carve pumpkins. haha I would like to say we'll get to do other things... but it is not very likely. However, we have set aside tonight to watch Return of the King with KC's parents, we've worked our way through all six extended editions in the past few months! :)

ON MONDAY: I will be posting the first November prompts for #LYBHolidayL ! The full list is up, but on Mondays I will give the list for the week, and what I plan to do each day. Hopefully that will give you all a few ideas! :) We would love to have you join us! You can tag along via social media, blog, etc. Feel free to drop in and out of the challenge any day that you feel inspired by the prompt! :) We'd love to see ourselves and others enjoy November a bit more, and feel a little calmer and more organized going into the Holidays! :)

Have You Heard? // Taylor Swift - "... Ready For It?"

Happy Friday Friends! I hope you had a great (short) week! :) I had a great week... I read... a lot of books, got to watch The Hobbit (for the millionth time), and did some more project life! :) That's pretty much an ideal week for me! hahah

Taylor Swift has dropped another song, and the comments on my last T-swift post were just too too fun. LOL. I share your sentiments on her maturity, etc. But I still can't help but enjoy her music. hehe Back in May or maybe June I joked to KC that she was working on a rap album. Well... this one has some rapping... talk/singing in it. ha. I think this one is a lot more catchy and also, it makes since to be more of a single.

At first I wasn't sure about it, but I actually really like it. It's so so so so so catchy. Can't help but think about the lyrics... yikes. It's a bit threatening... knowing her music. Look out whoever you are!!! hahaha but I still like it. :)

FWIW "Look What You Made Me Do" has definitely grown on me as well.. have you seen that video you guys?! It's nuts! I also have to give it to her, I like that she doesn't take herself seriously all of the time. With all of the Taylor cameos in the video it's pretty funny to me, and I like that she's making fun of herself. Anyhow, I think after about 3 listens, I was way more on board with it. I never seem to love the singles when they come out, but they do grow on me pretty quickly. I didn't love "We Are Never Getting Back Together" or "Shake it Off" at first either.

Also, pretty excited because I ordered this shirt and I think it is priceless. LOL, the best part is that the shirt itself is called "blameless" lolololololol Photo via Passive Juice Motel. Love their shirts, but these will be my first ones, KC has tons!

Alright, what do you think of these songs now that you've had a bit more time?

What are you up to this weekend?!

We are planning to get our first cider donuts of the season at the farmer's market, and also to get waffles... because The Waffle Iron is having a pop up! :) Other than that we will see. Probably more project life and reading! Ooh and more of The 100. We're hooked.

Have You Heard? // Taylor Swift - "Look What You Made Me Do"

OMGGGG. We've been waiting, right? I have! No shame here.

We all knew that something was coming. She'd been quiet for a while... and then those partial snake gifs... amiright?

Gahhhh... flashing back to when we saw 1989... *daydreams*

So, let's get to the new song!

OMG! There is a LOT going on in this song. As expected, she brought the drama and scathing lyrics. It will be so interesting to see what this album is like. I hope it's a bit more mature than I'm expecting right now. Either way, we'll see, I'm glad that we don't have to wait a super long time!

What do you guys think? Do you like T-Swift?

What are you up to this weekend?

We are going to see my sister for lunch and games on Sunday, but are otherwise free. I'm hoping to do some reading and some PL. I've got KC reading A Court of Mist and Fury (he'd made it part way through a while back) again, and so it's likely he'll be wanting lots of reading time. I can't wait for him to finish so we can discuss! LOL. I'm fangirling so hard that it's embarrassing. (this is not an overstatement)

Have You Heard? // Taylor Swift - "Begin Again" // & Snapshots of the 1989 Tour

So, quite a while ago, we decided we wanted to go to Taylor Swift's 1989 Tour. The concert was the week we decided we wanted to go, tickets weren't cheap... but cheaper than I expected. Plus, Vance Joy was opening, and we all know how I feel about him... KC and I went with our friend Michael. Anyone who mocked them were promptly met with a, "shake it off".

My history with Tswift (as KC calls her) is really just that I was adamant that I would not like her music. "Love Story" came out, and I was like, "meh"... but then I fell hard... as most do at some point or another. I weathered her romantic songs, her angry ones, her narrative ones... and generally liked what she was putting on her albums. When Red came out, it was an instant favorite. I know I'm probably alone in that opinion. I don't know anyone else who likes that album best... but I can't help it! I do! 1989 is very solid as well, and while I wish I could have gone to the Red tour... the 1989 show was an incredible time. I'm very glad that we went.

So today, I am going to share (possibly) my favorite Tswift song, "Begin Again", and recap the concert.

I think that this song has the most honest lyrics. It's simple... but it just gives me #allthefeels every. single. time. I hear it. Who knew there was a video... ? But here you have it.

What's your favorite Tswift song?

On to the concert pics. KC and I have generally been to TONS of concerts, but very few pop ones. This show was a whole different level of performance. Just to see the dancers, costumes, video screen art, it's insane. There were several songs that were just incredible to watch! I also loved the confetti shower.

She sang (as expected) mostly songs from 1989. She also played crowd favorites like "Love Story", "Fifteen", etc. Were lucky to find floor seats, and were able to see an hear everything pretty well! I was most impressed with the visual aspects of the show. The imagery on the screens when it was not live video was incredibly beautiful and eye catching. It really enhanced the experience.

Also, turns out my SIL Kels, and her BF Jacob also bought last minute tickets! They were a few rows ahead of us. So fun.

So another concert lesson for you all: it's rarely too late to buy tickets... but you may have to shell out a pocketful of cash!

So there you have it!

Did anyone else catch a 1989 show?

What's your favorite Tswift song?
